HI Mike, you're correct about letting you know that I'm available for future Skype games, although some weekends are taken up with my reenactment hobby, if you want I'll post here potential Skype days if anyone wants a game.

Update on what was to be the 21 June game.

It will have to be post-poned until the 28th June weekend. The floor of our house is being replaced, and I thought it would be completed by Friday. Silly man.

Also, while the entire living area of the house is in storage (no dining room table) or in the garage (Skype table covered in household stuff), SWMBO thought it would be a great idea to repaint the living and dining rooms. I have to agree, but that means painting, not playing, on Saturday.

What it looks like now, with the floor and island removed:

Sorry, but it will have to be next week.

    Sorry, guys.
Andy[Nightbomber] was an hour early, and Neil[Skafloc] was not able to log on. Don't know what happened to Paul[tikkifriend], but it wouldn't surprise me to hear that there was another Interweb failure in his neighbourhood.

Two Albatros D.IIs vs two SPAD VIIs. I had to take the cellophane off the decks, they were that new.

Next week? Or someone could put up an invite?

    Neil and Paul,
I was going to pass on this, as I am trying to arrange a Wings of Glory demo at a local convention. InCONceivable is running it's inaugural event in the Comox Valley on 9 August. It will include a Cosplay competition, Wh40K tournament, a Call of Duty Head-to-Head competition at a local electronic gaming boutique, and a Magic: the Gathering tournament. There will be tables for family table games, and I am arranging to wheedle my way into a demo table for Wings of Glory.

The organizers are not adverse to me demoing the game using Skype, and I am trying to arrange a projector and equipment to allow others to spectate, or join in if you are not opposed. This will allow people to watch a "real" game, rather than me just floundering around a table-top running two sides of a game (please try to avoid "solo" comments).

If you are amenable to having witnesses, or novice participants, I am in. We can run for three hours, three to six local time.

Mike can you work out the timings then? If we can get it sorted I can't see any problems with that.

I was going to offer next weekend but it's my birthday and the weekend after I'm up in Edinburgh running the aerodrome table at Claymore.

    Neil,
It would be a great way to demo the game, considering my lack of experienced local players. I am arranging to be at the convention for the day, and could "train" up some players for the "finale". I am trying to arrange a Video projector to better showcase the Skype participants, BTW.

I was hoping to have a Zeppelin to showcase, but I haven't the funds to have one shipped in for this year. Next year, different story.

    Paul,
Going in tomorrow for the "technology check" at the venue. I will let you know ASAP, if the process has a chance of working.

Also, there is a layout issue. I need electrical power, but room to have people around the table (at least three sides). The convention layout may not allow this, without a trip hazard. I also want a video projector so that people playing and watching can see who they are playing. I don't want much. Just everything.

I have a Dual Pack in the mail, and if it gets here in time, one of the participants will take it home.

I'll have to do up a custom card certificate for the out-of-country participants, or something.

I'll post any updates here: InCONceivable! Thread

On 26th October we're putting on a participation/static display at Woodhorn Museum. I might try and get a simple Skype link up and running for that one so we can try it in reverse. Have to confirm wifi is available first.

    Neil[Skafloc]

    Spectator/participant:
Rob[FO Kyte] (no contact request, so not able to invite him)

That's it so far. Perhaps a bit late in Europe for most?

    All,
I am now fitted with a Bluetooth mic, so I can wander about the table and still be heard by Skype players, even in a crowded Convention Centre (I hope). I'm thinking the mic on the laptop won't work very well in a big venue and lots of noise competition.

I will be in to the Centre to do the display set-up tomorrow early, and will use the TV to display the 'drome and my videos. If the technology doesn't work, hopefully Neil and Paul can play a game without all the distraction of a noisy convention.

Interesting idea... having never used Skype however, even for a simple conversation, I'm not certain of the mechanics of such an endeavor... but I'm intrigued.
