This is an interestingly designed book. The author organized pictures concerning Richthofen thematically, and then wrote about each photograph. In so doing, one has a pictorial biography of MvR's flying career. The chapter titles are:

The Legend Begins
One Eagle Falls, Another Rises
Bloody April and Beyond
A Commander of SteelHard Will
Frail Mortality
A Flyer Through and Through
The Last Patrol

The first appendix follows the same format, but addresses individuals associated with Richthofen. The second appendix outlines the pilot rosters of the four Jagdstaffeln commanded by MvR; items include the number of victories each pilot had, the dates they served, etc.

If you are looking for an in-depth biography of Richthofen, this book is not for you. If you are a fan of MvR, you will probably enjoy the book, if for no other reason than its design provides a different approach to telling the Red Baron's story - oh, and the pictures are pretty cool.
