Thread: Official Caudron GIII Painting thread

Default Official Caudron GIII Painting thread

In the first couple of months of 1918 the Belgian aviation militaire received 36 Caudron GIII. It was mainly used for training new pilots at the base at Juvisy-sur-Orge and was unarmed.
It was a very stable flying platform and was used till 1928 by the Belgian military and civil training schools.

So I really had to add one to my collection

The serial number is based on a picture I found at this site (third from the top):

Here's the model (shapeways by Kampfflieger) :

    Another nice one Alex.
You certainly are ramping up the speed of production. Expecting a Big Push or something?

I've been painting French medieval soldiers for weeks now and thought it was time for something different

I can't stand the sight of an other knight in shining armour at the moment...So till that feeling ebs away I'll be painting aircraft

I had quit a few Shapeways models waiting to be painted so now is the time to splash some color on them.

Almost finished a Handley page bomber so I guess that one will be next on the forum...

After that one I have the choice between a Voisin , Friedrichshafen GIII, Hanriot HD1 and a Ponnier

French knights ? Save time Alex - just paint them un-horsed, muddy & bloody...
    Nice Caudron by the way

Nicely executed Alex As for painting hordes of French knights, rather you than me - I am colour-blind and find things like heraldic schemes difficult

Nice early war model, rarely armed but used in reconnaissance and artillery spotting to good use.
