With the imminent release of the 1/200 scale mini of this plane I thought I would add some pics of the 1/144 wargamer version!

It will be interesting to compare these with the official releases and see how the difference in scale effects the detail.

personally I am much in favour of having props than not - even if they are still. Preferable for me (at any rate) to have still props than cutting plastic circles for props. BTW Peter, your first pix appears to be missing a prop in any case (so I am a bit confused by it all)

My order of 144 scale Beaufighter`s has arrived. I will keep one a Mk X and backdate two for SWPA use. The detail is incredible and is superior to most 144 scale injection molded kits!

Paints are Vallejo and Tamiya acrylics. Decals are from Shed and the serial number is home made.

A general question before I buy chaps.
Which of the Ares Beaufighters do yo think it would be the easiest to overpaint for Desert use?
    Thanks.

I would say the one of "Davoud" WGS201C. That was the one I used. The bottom color is already good while the others will need repainting of the bottom too.

Your welcome. I didn't like the look of that mini so repainting it was an obvious option. The only one which I like is the green/brown one and the all black one I didn't even buy.

    Just like me then Thomas.
I could not see much use for a night fighter.
I will probably get another green/brown just to get a pairing.
I will go solo in the Desert.

That is just a drink for all the other members! The initiation rights are specific, one successful anti shipping raid.Beaufighter 1 ship 0. One witness hopefully sober is required! Two none sober witnesses may be substituted. Lack of any qualifying witnesses may be substituted by photographic images. Photographer need not be sober but that of course does helps!

Note the strange feature of the desert one. I found out that this specimen came from a batch of production that started fighting in northern Europe. Then she was ferried to Africa. Generally, the Beaus would maintain the lower scheme in duck egg blue. However, she put up with an accident that damaged her tail. and the maintenance guys replaced it with the tail of another Beau that had been camouflaged with desert scheme. That's why it is so particular.

I was glad they are on our side when they overflew me.
That reminds me, now I have some Axis ships, I must get that mission flown.
