Hey Chris, have you suddenly found some extra time. You are certainly uping your production.
Again, a very neat Flight.
Rob.
Dare I say, "Jolly good show"? Well done!

See what I mean Sven? Nice though the paint job is.
Rob.
Oh Rob...
I like the Supermarine Spitfire very much - similar to the Sopwith Camel in WW I.
Can't wait for the Spitfire Mk.IX & hope for an Australian one.

You took my breath away, Sven! WX-L, the famous code letters...amazing! Original pilot: Wacław Król.
Carl, nice spits there.
For your Sqn codes have you looked at Shed Decals, white lettering for Ł6 a sheet contains hundreds of letters of various sizes.
All the white codes on my models are all shed.
Let me know if you need a link, but google The One True Scale should get it for you, they are same decals as with the Helmet model aircraft.
If postage is expensive pm me
Thanks Chris. I use Shed decals, in fact the Australian roundels on the Spits are Shed RAF with the red centre dot cut out.
The problem is my production has outstripped re-supply! I'll put in an order through to Helmet this week, until then I'll see what I can find locally.
Cheers,
Carl.
Ok then Carl, but rather than go through Helmet, try direct, via The One True Scale, I'm pretty sure he does RAAF roundals
Thanks Chris, I will.
Love the OP Australian Spit!
I do 1/144 scale, and these were some early attempts for me in 1/144 scale, at Minicraft Spits, which I was told were terrible. I tried them, and they came out not too bad. At the time I built them, there were no pre-paint options on E-bay, so I guess I did these about 4 years+ ago.
Way, way back, when I first started collecting planes to use for the WWII side, before there were any official WWII minis, all I had as an option was 21st Century planes, that they sold in toy stores. The only ones I could find...were PINK!!!! They came in a two pack with an Me-262, and I thought that I'd never get the chance to grab Spits ever again, so I bought a pair of...gulp, pink Spits (sacrilege) and prepared for a repaint. I had exactly ZERO decales, so I was going to have to try to paint around the existing British markings!
At the time, all I wanted was a couple Spits to use for my son and I, so I wasn't concerned about a historical repaint. I chose light brown as the overall main coat, as it would hide errors over the pink color better. Then I added a generic green camo coat. As the years went by, I've hung onto these Spits, and as I aquired some spare decales, I added some better deacles.
On a side note, the pink Spit was a real paint scheme, I have since read. Used for recon. Before I repainted it, I played a game with one of my daughters, who of course, took the pretty pink airplane, and shot down one of Daddy's mean ole' Fw-190s! We proxied the 21st Century Fw-190A for Me-109s for the dawn of War game set. Now, I wish I'd kept those pink Spitfires...kids all growing up *sigh*. Anyway, here are what used to be my ole' pink Spitfires.
Now days, the options are plentiful for some super Spitfires from F-Toys, online.

My 3 AIM Spitfires are here.
I've tried to give them the 1940 look. Almost fragile.
The Spits are so elegant.
Sorry for the shining effect from the decals.
Climbing to catch up some bogeys...
again, great paint jobs from everyone. I see more expense coming.....spits for Norway, spits for the Far East...the list goes on and on...
See you on the Dark Side......
These really are great. I have a Nexus Stuka in my hand right now, trying to get my head around how you folks paint these with such detail and realism. Very impressive.
Neil, this is the second mention of Norway I have read in the last few minutes. I look forward to seeing what you're putting together. My Mom was from Norway, and lately, I have had a growing interest in WWII history there.
Another very fine set of birds Quim.

Very smart aircraft Peter.
It makes a pleasant change to see one in RAAF livery.

Here is my humble attempt at Shapeways Spitfires V trop version in a custom paint scheme resembling some of the Skalski Circus planes [X] (they used V version for a very short time and did not score any kills with them - soon changed them for IX version). I like this desert design very much, so here they come to the rescue of Malta
Since I already have some of the Mark IX version, this was a must to get them.
"We do not stop playing when we get old, but we get old when we stop playing."
Some more very nifty aircraft from the Nightbomber workshops Andy.
They will be a much needed reinforcement for our beleaguered chaps.

Marvelous planes everyone!
I especially liked your Spitfires Andrzej! I've been searching a lot about Skalski and Beurling to decide who am i buying. So its great to see the Skalski Circus!
Thanks
Nick
Love the desert variant spits Andy. Can't wait to see them in action.
See you on the Dark Side......
Marvelous Spits, my friend.
I can't give you more REP...
We will be expecting much better intel from now on then Dave.
That is one pale pink beauty.
Rob.

Fantastic repaints everyone! Guess one can say that the Supermarine Spitfire is definitely being shown here in it's iconic true colours ...
Great looking repaints! Taking it to the Germans despite the lousy weather...
...and there are no ARES oficial minis nor even plans for them How come?
BTW - beautiful models, Darryl.

Thanks, my friends.
The Spitfires V used in night fighting weren't very successful.
Reasons differ:
The RAF report said that Spitfire's frontal vision was weak for night fighting and landing and take-off was difficult. There were a number of accidents.
The pilots of the 111th squadron don't agree completely. They said that they didn't had enough time to get the hang of it and the airstrip wasn't friendly.
After 3 months they were relegated to day combat. The interesting part is that they asked if they could keep their Spitfires black. It gave them confidence, they said. But after a few weeks the Spits were painted back to original green/brown colors.
I can see their point of view.
