Very nice, and a very appropriate battle. Lloyd
Good job. Nice to see a WW2 painting thread at last
Beautifully done Robert.
Rob.
Here is an F4F used by Fleet Air Arm but land based in Africa. Someone told me they were used to patrol Suez, but an investigation on the internet revealed they were deployed in some airfields near Marsa Matruh
Trivia: you can see, near the windshield, on port side, a small black inscription. Well, I must confess I printed a very small decal with my name...
That is another very well painted aircraft Cisco. i must admit that the three Martletts which i have are in the ordinary FAA colours, for use with my Carrier, but that would fit in very well with my North Africa Squadrons.
Must look around for another plane.
Rob.

Nice work Peter.
They look great displayed on mass like that.
I only have three and they get a bit lonely.

As the Dark Side continues to beckon, I am seriously considering getting the Merit Models 4-pack and painting them up for Med operations...
Nice work on these, fellows!
All the best,
Matt
Yes, originally I resisted but the Dark Side finally pulled me in. Don't believe them, there are no cookies!
I have 2 more to touch up and with the generosity of folks here and finding the starter set at a bring and buy I'll have 12 total. Pacific, here I come!
Those look great Peter! Nice job.
Matt, I hope you don't run into the decal problem I got with my Merit Models. Other than that I'm very satisfied with the quality.
Just not sure how to proceed.
Though you won't need the tail markings anyway for Med operations I imagine.
Nice Grumman Wildacts.
I like the red/white stripes on the side rudder.
Voilŕ le soleil d'Austerlitz!
It all depends on whos reality you are at the time Pete.

Nice line up of Wildcats there Peter.
I too converted Martlet's to US 'cats. Seems like not many wanted the Martlet version!
I guess the USN in the Pacific has the spotlight on carrier aircraft. The Fleet Air Arm received 1172 Wildcats from 1940-45, so there were significant numbers of them.
Great work, to each and everyone of you.
Nice looking Cat John.
Well done man!
They look spiffing!
Well done Miscmini!
Great looking Wildcats!

Nice!
I laugh in the face of danger - then I hide until it goes away!
although I think I posted them sometime ago somewhere else on this site (I can't find them anymore...) I think they should be here as well ... so here goes ...
They are all modelled to represent planes in the Pacific mid 1943. There is only one (stock WoW) in Atlantic livery, 1944.
Wildcat F4F-3 and F4F-4's, WoW, WoG and Merit models. Decals by Miscmini, some bases by Litko.
cheers,
Guus

"let's go get them ... white mice !" (battlecry of the 1st Fighter Group, Army Air Force, Netherlands 1940)
And a couple more, this time Grumman F4F-3 Martlet III's ...
They are modelled to represent aircraft from No 805 Sqn FAA/RN, operating in the defence of the Suez Canal, Egypt 1941. (note:Theater of operations is not 100% sure ..., it is North Africa, but...).
"H" and "N" still carry their original paint scheme, "K"and "X" the later desert camouflage scheme.
"H" is the unchanged WoW plane from LtCdr Alan Black.
"N" is a "slightly changed" WoW plane of LtZ2 Wim Blonk, Marine Luchtvaartdienst/Koninklijke Marine (Lieutenant, Naval Air Service /Royal Dutch Navy), fictitious, on secondment to the unit
"K" is the plane of Sub-Lieutenant M.W. Walsh
"X" is the plane of Sub-Lieutenant A.R. Griffin
Planes of Walsh and Griffin are Merit Models, decals from Shed (now gone) and Miscimini, stands by Litko.
LtZ2 Blonk uses a slightly modified plane card, cards for Walsh and Griffin I found on this site, I think they are done by OldGuy59 (thanks Mike ).
cheers,
Guus
