    Default Anniversary

    Ladies and Gentleman,
Please join me in the mess for a drink .
On this day 40 years ago I took the Queen's shilling and joined the army. I served until leaving upon retiring after over 24 years of service.
During my time I saw a lot of good and bad things, met lots of good people, some not so good. Saw quite a few countries, learnt a lot, did a lot, enjoyed my time greatly.
I still have contact with a lot of comrades ,lost quite a few in various conflicts.
So I would like to raise a glass to remember and to say thanks to my new friends on this forum who have made this an excellent experience
    Cheers people

Sir I salute you for your service to us all. Funny how we all remember dates. 10 Aug was 40 years since I left Viet Nam and as you I remember the good and bad times. Today is a good day for me as it is my 33rd year of marrage to a wonderful wife that puts up with me. (She lets me buy these little planes).
Again salute to you and raise a glass to all still here and those that gave all for us. CHEERS

I'm glad you made the right decision.

A soldiers life isn't that easy, especially for his wife, family and home.

    Prost, Chris!

Was it jet-propelled (and guided)? And what were you doing in Kuala Lumpur in the first place? And why would someone want to Lump Koalas to begin with? And what about the drains in East Finchley? Rhubarb rhubarb rhubarb!
