Nice one Rob.
One for me to try.

I'll see your 3 little 'uns and raise you a big 'un:
They told me you had a really big one Squadron Leader.

Fantastic work, all aircraft!!!
Thanks. The D.III is my very favorite plane of the whole war, and you know what? Every time I use LO! in a game, I get totally blasted.
Siemens-Schuckert SSW D III: Pilot Alfred Grevens.
Another superb rendering.
Rob.
I agree! I love that blue. What company/color is that Dark Horse?
The model is a Reviresco and so are the decals. Both wings upper & lower + the blue fuselage & wheel hubs are all decals. I have done some paint highlighting of the blue decals with GW "Enchanted Blue" paint. As well as that, all the rest of the painting is mine of course: forward fuselage, engine stuff, pilot, struts etc. More pix in my album.

This is a WSF SS D.IV by wow (colinwe) from Shapeways painted in a 'sunset scheme' - ok it's pink - and now my daughters first personal aircraft !
Paint & decal details etc are here
Like that one Marco really nice
Thanks Chris, I'm almost crazy for Udet's planes
Marco
Superb job, Marco! Udet's planes always seem to be visually striking.
Yes that certainly is a striking aircraft Marco.
Rob.
I bought an extra Siemens Schuckert D.III for repainting as the mount of 17 victory ace Vizefeldwebel Fritz Beckhardt. The repaint consisted of a coat of black gloss over the skull and bones and application of three reversed swastikas from my WGS stocks.
A German Jew, Fritz Beckhardt fought with the infantry for two years from 1914-1916, earning the Iron Cross 1st and 2nd class. He then trained as a pilot at FEA 5 at Hannover in January 1917. His first operational assignment, from 29 August to 14 November 1917, was with FA 3, which flew exceptionally long reconnaissance missions. Beckhardt then transferred to Schusta 11. He was selected to attend Jastaschule 1, going to Jagdstaffel 26 where he served from 17 February 1918 through to 20 May 1918.
Rather ironically, Vizefeldwebel Beckhardt's personal insignia was a Swastika, which was featured on at least three of his airplanes and turned the opposite direction to the Nazi symbol.
Beckhardt was a highly decorated NCO by war's end. After the Armistice on 11 November 1918 Beckhardt refused to surrender his aircraft, instead flying his Siemens-Schuckert D.III to Switzerland where he was interned until 1919.

That reversed Swastica is a fylfot cross and featured prominently during the early Middle Ages on surcoats etc. Regarded by many knights as a symbol of good luck.
Rob.
Actually its even older and comes from Buddhist symbol "svasti", meaning good fortune, luck and well being and of all things peace and one of the oldest known Svasti was painted on a paleolithic cave at least 10,000 years ago. If you come to Asia you'll see them everywhere in temples and shrines.
A superb colour scheme Cole.
Very well painted too.
It will make a fine personal steed.

Cole it's one of those designs that the more I look at it the more I like it - well done sir! But you do know it will become a bullet magnet!
Very nice Peter! I like the 3 color camouflage.
I always did like that colour scheme.
Nice work Peter.

Damn, looks great to me! The light green could be a bit greyer but those are great cards.

True. Even my monitor might not match what you see so they are good as is.

The brown was a blend as I didn't have a close color to what I wanted. The greens are craft paints. I'll get you the info when I get home from work.
I think they are fine as is though.
The paints I used are, for the darker green is the acrylic craft paint, Americana, Lt. Avacado, DA106. The lighter green is another acrylitic craft paint, Anita's 11117 Khaki Green.

Wow, that is a nice match in the top image! Great work matching the color. The grey version is nice too. I might have to get another one to do in that scheme.

Nice work on the plane and the cards guys!
Thanks for the rep, Kelly
Peter asked for the cards on another thread (Top Views for Cards), and I had the template ready to go. Too bad members don't post units and crew of their paint jobs. Cards could appear.
I even have templates for 3, 4 and 5 color lozenge patterns for German planes:
The above is what started Peter off. It is a S-S D.III color scheme for Kest 4b (pilot unknown), not a S-S D.I scheme.
PS: May have to do up Carl's Kest 5.

Colors look good but as you say the diagnols are needed.
Carl,
I had to go and hand duplicate the lozenge pattern, as the historical reference I had wasn't on a diagonal, and the pattern was not adjustable to direction. So, this is what I ended up with. Not a new card template, but perhaps good enough? Steve [Guntruck] is doing new versions, but I haven't gotten around to building a WWI ARES template. Perhaps because I don't like it much?
Stand by for a redo, I forgot the shading. D'oh!
With shading:
