I'm assuming these were from back when they did the Micro Machines line maybe? I wish they still did those. I've got a ton of the "Star Trek" ships that they did that I used to use for RPG/Starship combat. Too bad I didn't know about these (& wasn't into them then)
Extremely good painting there my friend. Well Done.
Oh, and I guess I could share some of mine...

Not to bad. A little thick in the wings and tail surfaces, but a little filing might sort them out with much trouble at all.
At arm's length+ on a table I doubt I'd be able to tell the difference.
Everyone is painting A++++++++ aircraft.Nice job.
Another Jasta 11.

Very good work. Please look up on You Tube, Seven Fokker DR1 triplanes of Jasta 11. Beautiful color film of contemporary Dr 1 aircract flying.Turn up the volume ! There are many other aircraft also on this websight that filmed the Fokkers.

Great set of aircraft repaints Steve.
That Jacobs has always been a favourite of mine.
Rob.
Pink Baroness tripe that I painted for the missus.
My Tripes
Here are a couple of little Fokkers that I painted a while ago - Shapeways models with 1/144 Direct (I think) decals.

I do like the look of those two Nigel. They are very individual in their paint jobs and especially the decals. I never thought another red Tripe could be so effective.
Rob.
Thanks Rob, the decals were a pain though, especially the crossed swords one & the falcon one. Both were too big for their fuselages, which I only discovered the first time when trying to move them into place. I hate cutting down decals when they are wet and removed from their backing! (I have changed my mind on the brand of them - they are not "1/144 Direct" but "Y-Kraft".)
well.. almost done with the Gottsch Dr1 for Jasta 19.. it's been sitting around on the paint table for a fwe months.. so I dropped the decals on the upper wing this weekend .. just need to make the struts white and give it a sealer coat and she will be ready for the next game.. and I will have Rahn, Pippart and Gottsch to fly about..
Well Barry, it's striking colors and relatively easy to paint. Makes for a successful recipe! I too will one day get around to doing this Jasta.
Very neat bit of repainting there Gunnar.
What did you do to achieve the mottled effect on the fuselage?
Rob.
Great jobs mates!!!
I hope to have time soon to start painting something new for my collection.
Marco
Rob,
Thanks, it's a dry brush technique I have used for decades.. lol. but effective.. I like a few others better on here.. and am thinking of trying a more patient hand on the next batch.. I have 3 planes I am painting up for Jasta 19 and that top wing is all about the Fokker factory paint job.. so I am hoping for some good results.. One is for Crashx and 2 are for myself..
Thanks for the info Gunnar.
For all my years of painting, I had never done cammo until I started Wings planes, so any tips are always gladly accepted.
Rob.
Some more DR1 all Jasta 19
Decals Doms Decals and 1/144 Direct
unknown pilot
LTN Walter Gottsch
LTN Hans Pippart
Nice job on those Fokker Dr.I'.s everyone , I've done Jacob's and Raben so once I can dig out my digital camera I'll add my efforts to this thread.
Nice Chris. I've got Dom's decals and the Rhan minis to do Jasta 19, just not the time
Boney,
Nice Dreideckers! You have solved a long-standing mystery for me... You have helped me ID a apint job I did on a Dr.I... Ltn. Hans Pippart. I saw a picture of a model someone built andliked the paint job, so I coppied it but couldn't identify the pilot. Couldn't find the source of the pic when I tried researching it. Now I know. Thanks. BTW- what colours did you paint yours, I used a deep purple and a golden yellow, with white struts.
Chris Maes
Chris, I may end up doing that version of Pipparts paint scheme as well. I just liked the black one better.. haha
Yes indeed Chris 19 seems to be coming along well.
Rob.
Hi Chris, another possible version of this aircraft is a black fuselage , but I left it in standard colours.
Don't know if you are aware but the decal set from Dom gets a brief explanation sheet which helps with placing the decals and a brief explanation as to the plane too. Well worth getting if building up a unit.
The way I do my colours, overall a revel Grungrey, dry brush Olivegreen and then dry brush GW foundation Iyunden sun. Tails were PS paints lemon yellow and decals Doms for pilots and stripes from 1/144 direct
Chris it talking about this one..
oh.. and those spots are hand painted.. lol..
Yes you do, and it looks good!
A very good start you have made too.
A good choice of scheme from which you can develope in your own good time.
Welcome to the club.
Rob.
As you say John, you have to start, personally I like the red stripes on the red background scheme
Very good planes you guys have there!I don't have pictures of my collection of Fokkers.I paint the Dr.I of Jacobs, Voss, LVR and Kirschstein.
Thanks for the pictures and beautiful planes.
Nick
Jasta 19 all together
one more to come
I know it's not the greatest paint job, but I had to repaint my new Red baron. I bought him by mistake, as I already had the Series one version. I have to clean it up some and maybe add some extra paint to it, but for now, it's more like a Rookie Pilot's bird. Something you give to a guy that just came to the front who has not had a chance to prove himself in combat and then paint his bird.....
Many great paint jobs. My hat is off to each of you .
After making a few minor changes to my new Elwood Camel, decided to do some of the same changes to my new Lothar v.R. Tripe.
Not a complete repaint, but just some corrections for my taste. Once again, spent about 1.5 hours on the reworking. Shaved the prop, then some minor painting. Touched up the wing edges and the yellow on fuselage underside (my mini had most of the underside blue showing through the yellow). Painted the landing gear struts red and the top of the wheel axle wing green. Engine cylinders once again received a blued steel/silver treatment. Also painted the wing tip protectors natural wood color. Will finally hit all my aircraft with dull sealant as I am not a fan of shiny miniatures. Considering streaking the green, but I'll decide that later. Right now its good to go.
