Lightbulb Two Days Four Games Part two!

As Background the was to another Scenario as #2 since the first attack had knocked out the airfield i skipped a IJN carrier strike on the airfield.

Game Two attack on an escorted convoy!

Three Transport escorted by two fighters. In this case a Japanese convoy.

Forces IJN Three transport and two escorting Destroyers, with two Zeros giving air cover.

USA Four SBD escorted by four Wildcats.

Starting positions the IJN convoy was arranged by them with the destroyers protecting the transports and the fighters above them. The US player started four sticks away from the destroyers.

It was decided to use altitude rules in this game. With that we began. It was also agreed that any plane within range of the ships could receive AA fire!

When the action started the US left hand attack group went in a tight formation. The first Zero to attack them was shot down from their concentrated fire! The other Zero after them swung wide and had to recover and chase them. The right had US group was more spread out caused their opponents to spread out also. The Zero`s learned to respect the rear gunner SBD`s quickly.
The SBD trudged along slow and sure closing on the convoy. Things got rough when the AA got into the act. The fighters were still trying defend and attack the bombers. One SBD was barley in the air as it went into it!s attack. The bomb did some damage, but the bomber crashed into one of the destroyers sinking it! The AA proved the final straw. After the air battle damage all of the SBD`s were dropped as well as a Zero and two Wildcats.

In the end it was a decisive Japanese Victory, but the Us players raised their fists and promised revenge!

I had a great time playing. It was a bit of a mess getting my Zero's tangled up amongst the Wildcats and SBDs. It got worse once we were in range of the ships' AA fire. Both of my planes were shot down in friendly fire!

I am glad you like the write up. We had a good time. David will tell you we had a good group playing the games. I have decided to continue the Paciific theme at our next convention!
