Two Days Four Games Part one!
Just back form Guns Of August in Williamsburg Virginia! I ran two sessions one one Friday evening and the second on Saturday morning. The games all had a Guadalcanal Solomon Islands theme.
Game one was an attack on Henderson field by land based by IJN forces.
The Attackers had three Betty`s escorted by four Zeros as escorts.
The defenders had three Wildcats and a P-400!
The missions was to knock out the Airfield. The attackers started four firing sticks from the airfield!
By vote altitude rules were not used to help new players learn the system!
The game started fast and furious on turn four i took a 7 engine hit and the fifth a 8 engine hit in my trusty Wildcat while attacking a bomber. That was all it took. After that things got really harry!
The fighters became tangled with each other and the bombers lumbered toward the target. The defending fighters were hit hard the P-400 also going down. As the bombers approached the the target AA fire greeted the our own ptownhiker or David as he headed for the objective. Despite heavy damage he bombed the target and then rode his lane into the target after being shot down. His noble sacrifice knocked out the airfield!
Meanwhile the other bombers made their own attacks and added more destruction to the tune of twice the required damage!
I think in the end all four defending planes were shot down.
This was a derisive Japanese Victory!
