Testing the Advanced WW II Solo Rules

    The opponents:

    First blood.

Sakei rolled after the straight maneuver a dice for an Immelmann. (dice shows wrong result!)

    Sakei does the Immelmann.

    Plane exchange bullets again.

Shindo roll for an Immelmann too, instead of flying a long curve.

    Dangerous situation for Galer!

    The planes separate again.

Shindo rolled again for an Immelman, but now incoming Steiger has an advantage.

Steiger forces his plane into a Stall, knowing about Shindo’s next maneuver.

    Shindo goes down.

    Sakai is outnumbered.

    Sakai lefts the battleground.

    The result:

Ok, here are my thoughts to this advanced rules:

The KI planes shouldn't start too close to each other.

You need discipline and a reminder for the Immelmann dice rolls. The first time I rolled the dice before I planned the maneuver of my planes.

The KI performed three Immelmanns. This made the Zeroes definitely more dangerous.

Sometimes the Immelmans could be a problem for the KI. Have a look at the last one - when the Steiger's Wildcat flanked the Immelman and knews what the KI would do next.

Maybe it's more balanced with one more enemy plane, but I had problems/luck with 2 vs. 2, too.

I was suprised about the KI maneuvers, those basic & advanced rule maneuvers are dangerous, when the KI is on your six.

I think the advanced rules are perfect for a solo campaign.

    Nice AAR.
Thanks for testing the new rules.
    Your input helped a lot.

I also felt, reading your AAR, that the AI planes are more unpredictable and dangerous, creating a better solo game.
You deserve all the REP I can give you, Sven!!

    Thank you, Joaquim.

Rest of my family is out for a visit for three days. I've got time at the moment.

Sorry, I couldn't describe it in a more epic way.

Not everything has to be epic, Sven!

Let me share a haiku with you:

    Silence.
    And a deeper silence.
    When the crickets
    Hesitate.

    Ok...

Do you need to make Seppukku after such a Haiku?

Another result of the first WW II solo mission is, that I bought another Galer & Shindo.

Think I can easy mark them individual by overpainting the red stripes on both planes/cards.

You should see a movie called Seppuku. It's an amazing movie and if you like cinema, one of those really to see, in the way it was filmed and how the story was told:

I think you would like it.
There is another side of "Nippo" that is not of death and violence (although this one is very appealing to game players) but of beauty, calmness and inspiration.

The whole stuff isn't that strange for me.

I like Japanese* and South Korean** movies. ...and Mangas (Neon Genesis Evangelion or H.o.t.D.)

But I prefer to watch those movies in German or original with German subtitles.

    * Takeshi Kitano fan for example

    ** Vengeance Trilogy for example

I always try to see any movie in the original language with Portuguese or English subtitles.
I also like anime and manga.
Takeshi Kitano - checked almost all movies.
But my favourite is Akira Kurosawa.

At this moment I should ask, have you seen this:

    If yes, welcome to the club of "Amazing Childhood";
If not, well... what are you waiting for?!

Hey guys it's not what it looks like.

When searching the School Rumble song I found this here:

    13 episodes - cool.

Incredible stuff - you find on youtube.

I'm afraid we're really off topic.

Great AAR Sven! I liked the Advanced rules, seeing this. Thanks!
Just to get in the 2 years ago conversation, the only "animes" i like are from Ghibli Studio, which includes Porco Rosso, Princess Mononoke, Totoro, an others.
    Thanks
