Thread: Friday evening BoB Kanalkampf on a new mat

Default Friday evening BoB Kanalkampf on a new mat

Yesterday I called some of my flight members and one newbie (Paul) to play some BoB missions over the Channel: frei jagd and convoy bombing.
Teams were selected at random: Filip, the Young Lion and Paul played the Bf 109s, Darek and me played the defenders. The youngest, Maciek, was responsible for convoy movement
After several missions the British defenders won Although the Germans managed to sink one of the ships, they were beaten by our Spitfires. Altitude rules added much to the fights!
I scored 4 kills (including a Stuka) and was not shot down even once (ho, ho, ho!)
Filip scored 1 kill, but was shot down 3 times.
    Others didn't score at all.

Below you can see some shots of our event.

    NB,
Looks good! What scale ships did you use, 1/2400?

Looks like miniatures from Axis & Allies War at Sea. 1/1800

    Nice Channel gaming mat, Andrzej!

Is this the backside of your WW I trench mat?

Good idea to play an anti ship scenario. Can't await the BF-110 and He-111 for BoB missions.

    Wonderful mission, Andrzej!
I've tried to upload the new solo rules for WW2 that I've tweaked in the files section, but I wasn't allowed...
If you want, I can send them to you.
Richard Bradley was very generous and sent me his files so that I could use them.

It is another mat of that kind, Sven (they are one sided).
The ship minis are the A&A miniatures ones, of course
Yes, the planes you mentioned would add a lot of flavor to the game!

These were some simple missions, mostly to get the new guy involved and concerned on "flying and shooting" with altitude rules.
    1. a fighter sweep (frei jagd) - clash of two pairs of fighters.
    2. convoy bombing - one of us (the youngest, but willing to play with the adults) was responsible for fleet movement (one move of every ship a turn - one ruler width forward, or left/forward, right/forward, heading the opposite side of the mat). One of the German players piloted the Stuka, the other one an escort.
