Default Official Fokker D.VI Painting Thread

So I wonder, if anyone else has build/painted a Fokker D.VI:

I´ve done mine in full-collor-lozenge fabric (decals) - as most early machines - later ther were 4-, 5-color and mixed lozenge fabric in use.
It seems that the welded fuselage were stored a while until rotary engines where available (Balkenkreuz on fuselage generally used March - April 1918) and the wooden wings were build at time, when the engine was there to be installed (Balkenkreuz on wings generally used May 1918 until wars end).
Sometimes 4-and 5-color-lozenge-fabric varied between fuselage and wings.

I finally dug this out of my storage and decided to abandon all hope of my being able to apply lozenge deal to it - as it's a one off I decided to give it my personal 'Patriotic Hun' scheme to get it done.
Had a bit of an issue with the white paint, as you will see, I'll put it down to dodgy Fokker finishing !
    Anyway here it is:

I used old GW Blood Red paint - I used Humbrol 64 acrylic grey for the tyres, snakebite leather for prop & sskid, blacks, gunmetal, vermin fur for other bits & pieces, inc Peter Pig pilot.

I've thought for years used the O deck but now I see is assigned the U deck..? Was it ever O ?? Think I'd prefer the O deck myself.

Here is my fictional Fokker D.VI. Still I do not have "balls" to do lozenge. But with Pfalz D.XII on my table now, it will be inevitable.

Crosses aren't the same, but I couldn't find a reference for the ones on the model. Field paint job?

[Edit: Crosses changed to March-April 1918 crosses, probably only used on D.VIs for a few weeks at the beginning of its operational service]

PS: I tried a new technique for the wing rib tape. It wasn't monochrome, but strips of lozenge camo. So, I tried to emulate that.

They are correct for the aircraft, Mike, it's one of the types used in 1918.

Germany's Luftstreitkräfte (the army air service of the German Imperial Army) first officially adopted the Balkenkreuz in mid-April 1918 (about a week before the death of Manfred von Richthofen), and used it from that time until World War I ended in November 1918. The IdFlieg directive of 20 March 1918 to all manufacturers states in the first sentence (translated to English): "To improve the recognition of our aircraft, the following is ordered: [...]". In paragraph 2, the second sentence specifies: "This alteration is to be carried out by 15 April 1918." The closing sentence reads: "Order 41390 is to be speedily executed.

Crosses on the Camo D.VI changed to March-April Balkenkreuz.

Note: This cross was only used from March to mid-April of 1918, and was possibly only on the first few D.VIs to reach the front. It was changed to a very wide white-bordered thick cross for April-May 1918, and then to the thin cross with narrow white borders in May 1918, which was used to the end of the war.
