Beautiful, Darell. REP!
Beautiful, Darell. REP!
Sweet looking DV Darell. I'm with Rob, love the red trim on the green tail.
From the paint to the decals, nice work all around Darell!
Very nice work Darell, I have often thought of doing this bird myself. Great job and thanks for sharing.

Another magnificent set of repaints Carlo.
A real tribute to the men who flew the originals.

Great looking Albatros DVs Carlo.
Really great looking repaints Carlo!

Stunning Carlo, well done mate
Never Knowingly Undergunned !!
Those are really nice!
Another very impressive pair of kites!
Wonderful looking Albatros, there. National insignia really pop.
Yes, very nice looking planes.
Once again a fine pair of renderings, crisply painted.

Great paintjob!
Well, lads, as so often happens, I stumbled across this while looking for something else. Thought it might provide some inspiration - a few designs familiar, and some I've not seen before. http://mageknightkevin.blogspot.com/...ds-part-1.html
Definitely a guy after my heart, why build just one when you can do 6 or 12? Love it! Thanks for drifting . . .
Thanks for posting. That is some great looking DVa:s.
Think I might have to paint me an Albatross
A few more well done repaints well done
It's very strange to say this but this Nexus Albatros D.Va has everything to do with Joachim's Lisbon and Andrzej (Nightbomber).
Yes, this is the third of the Joachim Lisbon's signature German planes.
And you know that I being me, this means that all the other ones will eventually be painted with the Black & White scheme Andrzej designed for me.
And you know why this Albatros has everything to do with Andrzej besides the colour scheme?
Because almost five years ago, my dear friend Andrzej send it to me directly from Poland.
It was like this:
Now it looks like this:
The world turns, the wheels keep going and time transforms.
Thank you again, dear Andy.
Nice!
I laugh in the face of danger - then I hide until it goes away!
Thanks Tim. You're too kind.
Superb. The family keeps growing.
I like the paint scheme Joaquim, nice work.
Love the family Joaquim. REP gun jammed but I'll be back.
Would make an interesting talking point, although it seems as if captured birds were only flown for evaluation purposes.
It would make a great what if scenario though. The need to worry about trigger happy Archie gunners on your own side would have to be taken into account though.

That was some superb DVa:s Alex
More great Albatros! Wow.
In one word - Stunning !

Superb work Alex! Especially like the Neckel plane.
It's a poor cousin to some of the masterpieces on this thread but I thought I would share a quick Albatros D.Va repaint I just completed.
Taking a Series 1 Kurt Jentsch I repainted the fuselage back from the cockpit, the tail surfaces, the spinner and forward cowl yellow, then applied some home made decal black stripes finishing it off with a couple of leftover Red Eagle fuselage Balkenkreuz.
Theo Osterkamp joined the Marinefliegerkorps (Naval Aviation) in August 1914 after being rejected by the Army due to his thin build. He spent two years serving as a 'Beobachter' (observer) before transferring to Marine Feld Jasta I in April 1917. By the end of the war Osterkamp was the highest scoring Marineflieger with 32 victories and had been awarded the Pour Le Merite.
Osterkamp stands beside his Albatros D.Va with 'bumblebee' stripes after a prang in the Spring of 1918.
The finished product lined up with the other aircraft I am using for my 'See Adler' Staffel in the Over the Trenches Bitter End campaign.
That is a bumlebee with a sting
Very nice!

Great repaint Carl. I guess we'll be seeing it in the campaign soon?
Thanks Pete, nothing close to some of the amazing models on this thread but I haven't seen an Osterkamp D.Va around previously so I thought I'd share.
You will be seeing her in the OTTBE AAR's. I am thinking about giving her to my current Staffel 'Kanone' Leutnant Willi Mattheus (4 victories), and passing his old D.Va to Leutnant Werner Bastian who got his first kill last mission. We will see.
I have a hankering to paint some more Marinefliegerkorps aircraft. The Jentsch miniature is great for naval aviation aircraft repaints but even they are getting pricey on the second hand market at $40 each plus postage.
