Okay, where's the online signup for events? Maybe I'm just having one of my blind days... (EDIT: NVM, found it.)
Tony, your Drop Dead Date for any goodies you might want me to bring is May 14, because last chance to pick 'em up is the 15th.

Gentlemen,
Things are looking good for WOW/WOG at Enfilade this year and several sessions will have games available. The tournement is scheduled saturday night. Not having participated in the WOW
gaming at Enfilade last year would someone post the rules level that will be used in the tourny? Basic, advanced, elevation rules etc ?
Having played locally with most of the GM's running the smaller events, I can assume many of them will be basic rules in order to fascilitate recruiting for the various air corps. :salute:
James
James,
I can only speak for myself. I use the KISS method. No altitude rules (unless experienced players which is unlikely). I usually pull the explosion cards from the damage decks. When you are shot down you wait a turn and respawn.
To me its about having fun with a simple easy to learn rule set wile playing with cool toys.
Tony
I spoke with Bill Huges tonight. He is on vacation in Florida (lucky guy). The Tourney will pit the same aircraft against both participants. It will have a specific time length. If shot down you loose otherwise damage points determine the winner. It will be a double elimination format. It would appear that Bill has wrangled some support (in the form of aircraft) from Ares. Not privey to the total comitment but should be a reward for the lucky winners. Bill likes to play with altitude rules so it wouldn't supprize me if they are used. Shouldn't be anything trickey, just play to win.
Tony
Here's Bill's flyer he posted to another group.
Ares/Nexus has been very generous with their prize support so I hope a lot of people can attend. I've seen the bombers and fighters but haven't received word on the boxed set. From what I remember there won't be any altitude rules but I'll try to get him to register here for any questions. In the meantime I can forward any comments to him.Quote:
Greetings,
This is just an announcement to let everyone who can make it to Lacey,
Washington, USA, Memorial Day weekend that there will be several Wings events to
participate in. Sign up early as I am sure that spaces will fill up quick.
There will be a bombing session midday Saturday and a fighter session early
Saturday if I am not mistaken, a possibly Friday night session, an open table
for flying and learning, and get ready..... a double elimination tournament
Saturday evening.
The really great thing about the Tournament is that Ares Games is providing
prize support so dust of your goggles and showup to see who the best and
luckiest flier is; who then will pick their prizes. The prize list will be
provided later but you should know there will be multiple winners, and the
prizes to choose from will include WWI bombers, WWII fighters, a boxed set and
more.
Lets show everyone exactly what the enthusiasm level is for this game and have
some fun while we are doing it. Our game is alive and it is now time to shoot
someone down. A great turn out will let Ares Games know how much we appreacite
what they have done for this event and for our hobby.
I hope to see you there. I will be updating this message as we near the date.
Take care
Bill
Doug (Bill's co-conspirator)
FYI Gentlemen,
Enfilade is in Olympia, not Lacey. It will be at the Red Lion Inn.
James
Doug,
Welcome abord. A note for you I pleged to bring any duplicate aircraft that Bill might require for the tournament. I mention this because I will be leaving home on Wed of next week for a few days down in the Columbia Gorge area then up to Olympia for Enfilade. I will add anything we need I just need notice.
James,
Your geography lesson is much needed with this bunch of flyers.
Tony
Tony is the man... no.... Really!!! ;)

Looks like WOW/WOG scheduled Friday night to Sat night with multiple hosts. Looking real good guys thanks for everyones efforts.
Tony
Hi gang I should have joined ages ago. Just to let everyine know if I am not mistaken I have requested a space for Friday evening for WWI as many who can sho up, Saturday AM for WWII for 8 fliers. Saturday miday for WWI overflow or WWII if TOny runs out for room in his scenarios. As well as practice for the Tournament Saturday PM. It will be a double elimination so I really need to know how many are plannig to be there so I can lay out the schedule.
We have great prizes provided by Ares Games that I was able to arrange for. We have 4 differetn WWI bombers and 8 WWII fighters to give as prize support. Also Tony may be contibruting a Jane Fighting Aircraft fo WWI and there may be a second copy as well.
I look forward to seeing as many as I can. I will be doing cseveral event simulatanteously and Doug and I and Josh who was there a couple years ago and a couple more may show up. This will be a lot of fun and I am really happy that ARES has provided such wonderful prize support.
Take best of care
Bill
Think Bill'll let me play my BR.14 in the tourney?
Welcome to the Drome Bill, from all we pilots over here in Dear old Blighty.
Rob.
HI again. Just an up date on the Enfilade stuff
We will be giving out 4 different WWI bombers, 2 Caproni and 2 Gotha, and if you have not seen them you will be blown away, they are awesome. We also have 8 WWII planes from Wings of Glory that we will be giving out as prize support; all that was donated by Ares Games and they are equally awesome
Additionally we should have two copies of Jane's World War I Flying Machines
The Saturday AM will be a WW2 session as Chris is running WWI at that time.
During the open sessions we run you can fly anthing you want. However in the Tourney you will be flying identical airplanes, single seaters, sorry. We will not use altitude in the Tourney but will in the open sessions.
During the tourney we will use basic rules as in the original WoW rules with the following caveats.
The explosion does not count unless you are already on fire, if you are so sorry it is over you explode.
There are no collisions.
There are no tailing bonuses.
The if you draw a fire or smoke card they must be announced, the amount of damage does not.
You will draw for the fire a the beging of each turn, 1 turn = 3 phases.
If you are smoking and draw a second smoke card you are then on fire and take 3 fire tokens,
If on fire and you draw another fire your start refresh the fire tokens to three cards.
Single Engine damages requires 1 stall a turn, 2 engine damage andd you are gone.
Single Pilot damage, no steeps can be planned in the next turn, 2 pilot damage you die.
Rudder Damage Right or Left, no turns that direction can be planned in the next turn.
As there is no altitude in effect you can Immelmann, but not split s; and no climbing or diving.
You cannot play two steep in a row.
Jammed tokens are removed at the end of each phase
This is just a good old fashioned shoot out.
If we have 16 entrants there will be 8 rounds of double elimination, each round is 20 minutes long with only 45 minutes between rounds. This is not just a shoot out it is a marathon. But the prizes are worth it.
got to run for now.
Thanks
Bill
Oops that is 4-5 minutes between not 45. Sorry
Bill
This is sounding better and better! I expect I'll probably OD on WoG alone! Look forward to seeing you there.
Pat
Finished the third Friedrichshafen this morning. Three of my older Gothas plus four from 12-7 makes a total of 10. My guess is that more than a few others will be bringing their new "toys" as well. I might have a hard time getting anyone to fly scouts.
Tony
Follow link to final roster. It is in booklet format so it is a little hard to follow. Looks like a good weekend of gaming.http://nhmgs.org/pdfs/Enfilade2012_EventList.pdf

Johns response to my post "In defense of wargaming past"
Hey Jimmy!: There is one thing no wife can ignore and that is a SALE!:drinks::clap::pint::clap: Reviresco is having an aircraft kit sale at Enfilade ----- 15% discount on all aircraft and decal orders over $30 net. Because your order is an Enfilade sale it qualifies for the discount. So tell her this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. ('cause it is --- have you ever known me to throw a sale?) We will also have a buy three get one free deal on tanks and armored cars. Plus we will have other sales popping up on our tables during the show. So let her know that you just gotta have some bucks to spend.
John McEwan
In my 42 years of wargaming here in the Pacific Northwest this has never occured! Of course, my daughter just popped in from college and needed $300 for some contacts and food, so guess where the available cash came from.... :hmm::mad:
James :(
Tony put on a great game Saturday afternoon with a set of bombers that were stunning to behold. Wow. Truly amazing. Thanks for letting us try to figure out how to take out various industrial complexes. It was a great game and a lot of fun was had by all of us who played.
Tony, how did you do in Bill's tourney? that looked like a lot of fun and I was sorry to have sat it out, but there were folks in the room that were destined for greatness.
R
Yeah, it was a real blast shellacking that Frog factory... :D
Diamondback & Conepipe - who won the tourney?
I will do a proper AAR tonight. My thanks to all who attended and presented. The WOW/WOG was well represented. I created an Enfilade album.
Remember it IS possible to be TOO close to a bomber!http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/att...8&d=1338237861
Tony
Didn't catch that one, amigo. Will ask Bill & Co...
Tony, Great picture. I was the one flying the Camel that is on fire.
Folks, believe it or not, it made it through the entire scenario. There were five brave Brits up against six German bombers and four (?) escorts. Tony was kind enough to let all the fighters regenerate and come back in from the edge at the start of the next turn. I’m sure Tony will provide all the details. Had a lot of fun.
As to the tourney, I participated (won my first one, lost the next two.) But don't remember the name of the winning pilot.
Great pics! I am trying to post mine to an album. I may have messed up so I guess I'll go read the directions this time. As for the red paper Dv, that was mine! The model was designed by Prudenzio. I sold that plane, and two other paper planes to Mr. Denberger at the con.
Pat
Pat - glad you made the trip and I got to play next to you. I think we need to do a "WoW" inquiry at the start of any game next year....
AND - No Fair selling those to Mr. Denberger, darn sure he used my money as I bought a set of Heroscape boxes for my son from him...assuming that I can look that company up on the net?
Found it via this forum: http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/sho...-Zioprudenzio-!
Prudenzio posts his models, and a request for donations at the site, http://www.zioprudenzio.it/fokker.html
Look under the airplanes link and you will find both WWI and WWII planes. I print them at 12% of their full size to get them at 1/144 scale. You may vary on that with your printer. You will find a number of very well written articles here under the Paper Models forum on how to build the models.
Good luck!
Pat Stapleton
Rod,
You're such a great Dad to buy those games for your son. And I only think you're upset now because you admited he's been wooping up on you big time today playing Heroscape. :cheezy:
As for purchasing Pat's planes, I felt it my duty to make sure they did not leave the Pacific Northwest. At least you'll be able to be shot down by them next year!
My gals, as well as myself, are amazed at the skill demonstrated by Patrick in their construction and they are truly amazing little planes! :salute:
Patrick, whatever you build in the future, please do it in doubles and I will gladly buy or trade for the one you don't want! :hatsoff:
James
I was so exhausted after running the tournament that I gave the winners information to James so he could post it. Hopefully he'll get to it shortly. The tournament itself was amazing as we had around 23 people playing in it. I'd like to thank Tony for donating the "Jane's Fighting Aircraft of WW1" book and of course Andrea for all the prize support. I don't think I screwed up too badly running the tournament and everyone I saw had a blast. The final battle of the night came down to two undefeated players with the winner walking home with a Gotha and Caproni.
@James - ok, there may be truth in that assessment of yesterday's list of defeats of Dad!
@Doug - no problem, was more curious than anything else. It looked like folks were really having a good time and to me that would be the ulitmate assessment. Congrats on running a successful tourney.
@ James and Pat -- maybe he should do up a few of each variant for next year...he may be able to cover more of his costs that way!
My apologies to all about holding off on pictures and the tourny info. Walked in from the Con all smiling and was handed the Honey-do list.
Had to change the kichten faucet set, which of course, opened the pandora's box under the sink. Now I have to change a 40+ year old hot water valve.
Women used to fetch water from the river 20 miles away, uphill both ways. Why can't a modern women fetch water from the bathroom sink 50 ft away?
Jeeeuuuust kidding!!!!!!! :takecover: :surrender:
Still hav'nt even unloaded the car yet........:(
James
Patrick -- Your planes looked great! What weight/type of paper did you use in printing? (Looked like semi-gloss photo paper.)
The paper used for the model planes was 65lb cardstock from Staples. After printing, but before cutting parts out, the paper is sprayed with acrylic matte sealer to prevent damage to the ink while handling and assembling. After assembly the planes receive several coats of semi-gloss or gloss sealer.
Mr Doug Sir,
I think I need to clarify the origins of the "Janes Fighting Aircraft" book. It was given to me last year by Rick (rick57) for me to use as a prize at one of my games. As the senarios really did not lend themselves to a clear cut winner I brought it home and simply baby sat it for a year. It has gone on to its intended location and I can once again pile stuff where it was located without doing that mental "I have to get that down to Enfilade" .
Thank You Rick!
Tony
I wasn't able to play in the tournament but had a great time flying in the dogfights (mostly getting shot down). On Saturday, there were 2 WoW games going on simultaineously and both were fully booked.
Many thanks to those putting on the games, I think WoW chalked up a major success at Enfilade this year.
Pooh
The good Oberst sent me a PM and requested a list of those who attended Enfilade. I did not keep a list as I thought the individual requested the Medal if he or she wanted one. That being said. We need to compile a roster of those who attended. If you were a GM note it. If there was an event organizer I guess it would be Bill Huges as he obtained the support from Ares. I will start the list to the best of my memory. As you all chime in I will edit this post so we have a list.

Tony,
I only had the list of the 8 finalists in the tourny and added a few I could remember by name. I sent it off to Bill last night.
James
James,
The list I am working on is for Aerodrome Convention participation medals. Not general participation.
Tony
Hi Tony,
Yes, well aware, the names provided were for some of the individuals who participated in the WOG tourny Saturday night (list provided by Doug). Unless the other WOG GM's still have their sign-up lists you'll have to settle for what we can all drum up from memory. We won't know who some of the participants were until they contact us or the Oberst. The names I provided to Bill are the eight finalists in the WOG tourny and 2-3 names of tourny participants I know by sight and name.
