General inspection of the Opole wing. Day 3

Rate this Entry
For the last day of my trip to Poland, Andrzej organized a trip to Breslau with another secret mission on the way.

The house of the Richthofen family in Swidnica/Schweidnitz:

A private Person placed a memorial stone in the garden:

Manfred Frh. v. Richthofen + 21.April 1918

The Nightbomber took a picture of me, standing at the stairs to the house.

Unfortunately the house is in a terrible condition, but we had the chance to sneak inside and to take some impressions with us.

Second part of the secret mission was a visit to the nearby Red Baron Hotel/Restaurant and we had a coffee and a beer in a nice equipped room with pictures of Central Power's famous fighter pilots and planes of WW I on the wall.

We met Andrzej's and Darek with his familiy in Wroclaw/Breslau at the Christmas market.

The old town is very impressive and we enjoyed some spiced wine, food and beer in the busy town.

My grandfather was born in Breslau in 1912, so it was interesting to see where he came from.

The Polish gang that escorted me through beautiful Breslau.

Thank you for your company!

On our way back we stopped at a restaurant near Andrzej's home, that offers a lot of original Polish dishes like this excellent Zurek soup I loved a lot.

I really enjoyed the Polish/Silesian food and my friend(s) made shure that I had not to starve.

Before the bus left Opole to Germany, Andrzej and I played a last quick X-Wing game with the new "The Force Awakens" game box.

It was a thight decision, but I managed to destroy two Tiefighters with one X-Wing hull point leftover.

Lucky dice.

What to say...

I had a great time, perfect weather and again I was overwhelmed by the friendly people I met there in Opole.

It was an impressive insight into our neighbours country and I have to say, that Poland is worth a trip.

In this global world you have to see what connects European people and you have to wonder how violent and blood our past was.

The European Union is a way that leads in the right way in my opinion, to connect people and exchange opinions and ways of live.

Thank you for this memorable trip my friend.

That was a magnificent time for me as well, Sven. All of the people you met here say the same.
Thanks for the last day report.
You are absolutely right about EU era. The values it promotes are just mine.
