the battle field is nominally the Hohenzollern redoubt September-October 1915
Several men from my village were killed during the battle of Loos at the redoubt which was at the northen end of the batlle line. The Germans referred to this as Der Leichenfeld von Loos, the corpse field of Loos, due to the appalling slaughter, repeated the following year at Ypres, and the year after that at Paschendael.
