  1. Return from Cancon 2013

After a fantastic three days of WGS gaming over the Australia Day long weekend Tuesday morning 29 January 2013 saw me back on the road early. I was intending to drive the 1260km from Canberra to my home in Brisbane in one day - and I almost made it too!

On the way however I stopped to visit the scene of a terrible wartime tragedy which occurred on 5 August 1944 at the little NSW country town of Cowra.

  2. Road to Cancon 2013 - Temora Aviation Museum

As I made good time on Day 1 of the Brisbane to Canberra trip I had time for a detour to the small town of Temora on Day 2. Temora is the home of the Temora Aviation Museum, home to the No. 10 Elementary Flying Training School (10 EFTS) set up by the RAAF in May 1941 under the Empire Air Training Scheme (EATS) during the Second World War. Their website is here: http://www.aviationmuseum.com.au/

  3. On the Road to Cancon 2013

I left Brisbane at 1000hrs and made good time, doing the 950 kilometres to the central NSW city of Dubbo in just over 12 hours.

I took a few photos on the first leg of my trip through the rural plains of central NSW:

  4. WGS at Cancon 2013

I have just returned to my home-town of Brisbane after spending a week travelling to and from Australia's premier wargaming convention 'Cancon'. As the name suggests Cancon is held in our nation's capital Canberra each year on the Australia Day weekend, 26-28 January this year. During this trip I took a large number of photographs, on the road as well as at the convention. Through this blog I will share my Cancon experience with the group.
